# FAQ

Quick answers to the questions we hear most. For the full legal text, see our [Privacy Policy](broken://pages/04c9d8f40103b03ffd38ba8d6aa0e73d88075a7b) and [Terms of Service](broken://pages/2168088ee600837fc16ada009178ec7fc1c91b94).

### Accounts

<details>

<summary>Do I need an account to use SOL-E?</summary>

Yes — an account lets your progress, rewards, and pet sync and stay safe across sessions and devices.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How old do I need to be?</summary>

13 or older. If a higher minimum age applies where you live, please get a parent or guardian's permission first.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How do I delete my account?</summary>

In the app: **Profile → Settings → Delete Account**. This deactivates your account immediately and removes or anonymises your personal data. It's permanent — your progress and rewards can't be recovered afterward.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What happens to my data if I just uninstall the app without deleting my account?</summary>

Your account and data stay on our servers (so you can pick up where you left off if you reinstall or sign in on another device). If you want your data actually deleted, use the in-app "Delete Account" option instead of just uninstalling.

</details>

### Location & Steps

<details>

<summary>Does SOL-E track my location all the time?</summary>

No. We only use your location while the app is open and you're actively using the Walk or Map feature. We never request "always on"/background location access.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What is my location used for?</summary>

Showing you nearby in-app rewards on the map, and confirming that step/distance activity happened outdoors.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How does step tracking work?</summary>

SOL-E reads your phone's built-in step counter (the same sensor Apple Health or Google Fit use) to track daily steps for goals and rewards. We don't get access to any other health data.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I turn location or motion tracking off?</summary>

Yes, any time, in your device's Settings. The rest of the app still works — you'll just lose the features that depend on that permission.

</details>

### Ads

<details>

<summary>Do I have to watch ads?</summary>

Never. Rewarded ads are entirely optional and just give you a bonus — the core app works fully without them.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Who shows the ads, and what do they see?</summary>

Ads are served through Google AdMob. When you choose to watch one, AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier to select and measure ads, similar to most free apps with ads.

</details>

### Flares & Rewards

<details>

<summary>Can I cash out my Flares for real money?</summary>

No. Flares (and every other in-app currency or item) are purely virtual, exist only inside SOL-E, and have no monetary value. They can't be exchanged for cash, gift cards, or cryptocurrency.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Is SOL-E a crypto or investment app?</summary>

No. SOL-E today is a wellness and games app with a virtual reward system — nothing in it is a security, deposit, or investment, and nothing promises any financial return.

</details>

<details>

<summary>I heard SOL-E might add blockchain features — what does that mean for my Flares?</summary>

We're exploring it as a possibility, not a promise. If we ever build blockchain functionality, it'll be introduced as a separate, clearly explained feature with its own terms — not something that silently changes the Flares you already have.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can my Flares balance change or reset?</summary>

In rare cases, yes — for example, if we need to fix a calculation bug or address someone exploiting the reward system. We try to avoid this affecting genuine players.

</details>

### Data & Privacy

<details>

<summary>Do you sell my data?</summary>

No. We don't sell your personal information to anyone.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Who do you share my data with?</summary>

Only the service providers that make the app work — mainly Supabase (our backend/database provider) and Google AdMob (for ads) — plus legal authorities if we're required to by law. Full details are in our [Privacy Policy](broken://pages/04c9d8f40103b03ffd38ba8d6aa0e73d88075a7b#10-how-we-share-your-information).

</details>

<details>

<summary>How do I see, correct, or export my data?</summary>

Contact us at \[support email] — see [Section 15 of the Privacy Policy](broken://pages/04c9d8f40103b03ffd38ba8d6aa0e73d88075a7b#15-your-rights) for the full list of rights available to you.

</details>

<details>

<summary>I'm in the UK/EU — who do I complain to if I'm not happy with how my data is handled?</summary>

You can contact us directly first, and if you're still not satisfied, you have the right to complain to your national data protection authority (the ICO in the UK).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://sol-e.gitbook.io/sol-e-docs/legal/faq.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
